Payson Academy of Excellence Statement of Faith

Our foundational beliefs include the Trinity, the divine and human nature of Jesus, salvation by grace through faith, the authority of the Bible, and the promise of eternal life.

This is our Statement of Faith:

​

The Trinity: There is One God who exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19, James 2:19)

 

The Person of Jesus Christ: Jesus is fully God and fully human. He is the virgin-born Son of God who lived a sinless life.  (John 1:1, Matthew 1:20-22, 2 Corinthians 5:21, John 1:14)

 

The Authority of Scripture: The Bible is the inspired, written Word of God, serving as the ultimate guide for faith and knowledge for a godly life. (2 Timothy 3:16)

 

The Fall and Sin: All of humanity is inherently sinful and separated from a holy God. The original sin introduced by Adam brought brokenness into the world, leaving people unable to earn their own salvation. (Romans 3:22-24)

 

The Atonement: Jesus willingly died on the cross as a sacrifice for all sin. His sacrificial death paid the penalty for our sins. (Romans 5:19)

 

The Resurrection: Three days after His crucifixion, Jesus bodily rose from the dead, defeating sin and death. His resurrection is the foundation for a Christian's hope of eternal life.  (Romans 8:17, Romans 6:4-6, 1 John 5:13)

 

Salvation by Grace: Salvation cannot be earned through good deeds. It is a free gift from God, received solely through faith in Jesus Christ's sacrifice. (Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:8,)

 

The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit resides in every believer from the moment of salvation. The Spirit comforts, guides, convicts of sin, and empowers Christians to live a holy life, to serve one another, and to love God. (1 Corinthians 3:16, Romans 15:13, Ephesians 1:13-14)

 

Spiritual Gifts: Spiritual gifts are given to every believer through the Holy Spirit as needed. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

 

The Church: The Church is the universal body of Christ, made up of all believers worldwide. Our purpose is to love God, love others, serve one another, worship God, teach the scriptures, encourage one another, and spread the Gospel. (John 4:23, 2 Corinthians 13:11, Colossians 3:16, 1 Timothy 4:10-13)

 

The Second Coming: Jesus will physically return to earth in glory, an event known as the Second Coming or Advent. At this time, He will judge the living and the dead, establish His eternal kingdom, and usher in a new heaven and new earth. (2 Timothy 4:1-18, Revelation 19:11-16, Revelation 20:11-15, Revelation 21:1-27)
