Payson Academy of Excellence is a Christian private academy serving Payson, Arizona. We accept 3rd grade to 8th grade students. The first day of classes for the new school year will begin on August 24, 2026. We are meeting in a local church near the Middle School and High School. We believe it is very important for our students and their parents to get the rest we need, so our school schedule is Monday through Friday 10am to 2pm.

 

Parents can register their child/children in our academy anytime. Your child will be given all their main classes through our online curriculum with qualified teachers. Acellus Academy is accredited through college. The benefit of having their classes online is that the teaching videos are fun, interactive, and the students can see what is being discussed in class. The information they learn from the videos is put into a game form, where they are tested on their knowledge. They will be given multiple choice questions, writing assignments, read books, unscramble the spelling words, choose the definition of the spelling words, and write about the words they are learning.

 

If they can't pass the knowledge based questions and answers, they are given a help video to go over the information again. They move ahead once they have fully grasped the information. The Acellus Academy online teaching program will assess their knowledge and if they have any gaps in their learning, the program will recognize the gaps and retrain them in those areas of Math, Science, History, Language Arts, and Reading to help them to get back to the level they need to be at. This way your child can have confidence as they gain knowledge and understanding in their subjects. 

 

The online curriculum is individualized for each student. Every student will work at their own pace and have their own classes and teachers based on their grade level. Every student will have a laptop to use for their classes. Any work done in class will be sent home, including report cards, and art projects. All class assignments, tests, and homework are done in the classroom.

 

We prioritize one-on-one instruction and teacher assistance. We are their teachers/tutors outside of the curriculum. If your child is struggling with a topic, we will come along side them and help them to understand the information they are being taught. If they are having a hard time with the writing or reading assignments, then we will help them through it until they can do it themselves confidently. There are times when our students have faced challenges with grasping a new math technique or concept. We will take them aside individually and work through the problems with them on paper until they understand what they are doing and then they can continue working through the problems on the computer.

 

We also offer in class instruction and classes that are not computer based. Students need to learn through technology, but also through good old fashioned book work. The classes we offer outside of the computer curriculum are reading out-loud, writing essays and letters, building communication skills, Bible classes, penmanship, arts and crafts, life skills, and teaching on how to develop Christian character (Described in The Holy Bible as the Fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23: "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." )

In our academy our main focus is on English, Grammar, Reading, Phonics, Penmanship, Mathematics, Social Studies, History, Geography, Biblical Studies, Science, and Art.

You can register your child/children for our academy for free. The tuition is fully covered through the ESA scholarship. We have 6-8 spots available. We are keeping our school small to make sure that every student receives the one-on-one attention they need to excel in their studies and to have success throughout their life.
